Equine Better Care was set up in September 2001 offering a variety of services to professional riders and trainers and one horse owners. I orginally offered Equine massage, Instruction, staff cover, clipping, HGV Driving, Show prep, exercising and riding regularly, annually or just occasionally. I have now specialised and offer equine sports massage and new for 2008 is the introduction of Myo fascia Release.
After gaining my BHS AI I worked at a dressage yard where I was fortunate to have the opportunity to train with Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School Arthur Kottas on an Advanced Dressage horse. Further training in the art of Classical Dressage with Charles de Kunffy triggered my interest in the biomechanics and the structure of a horse. Consequently in 2001 I studied as an Equine body worker and gained my qualification as a Master in 2003. Currently I am the only MEQBW in Sussex. In 2004 I gained a diploma from Raworth International sports college in holistic massage to enable me to also support the rider by specialising in human massage.
As a rider, I've personally found massage has played a huge role for the horses I work with noticeably improving suppleness, quality of gaits and relaxation. A positive effect In my experience has been a shorter and more productive training time which in turn leads to less wear and tear on the horses body. I feel combining massage with quality training and riding can only have productive results for both horse and rider. As some of my regular customers work with a key member of the multi Gold medal winning German Olympic team I am able to continually further my knowledge and train my eye at the highest level and bring the benefits of this experience to my clients.The rewards from this work is relayed by owners and portrayed by their horses, which is extremely gratifying.
