 Myofascial Release
Myofascail Release is a specialised physical therapy, a form of soft tissue therapy that affects and releases the restrictions within the fascail system. The goal of myofascial release is to release fascail restriction and restore function and tissue health. Myofascial release works with the restricted fascia by applying pressure , sinking your hands into the restricted area. Slowly stretching the fascia until reaching a barrier/restriction and hold for approximately 3-5 minutes. The key is sustained pressure for this time scale. We place a mechanical, sustained pressure into the system, this changes the electrical potential of the area. This information transmitted throughout the body by the extra cellular matrix portion of the fascia and water is drawn to the restricted area. The central nervous system allows relaxation due to the re-hydration and other metabolic changes. There is an elongation of the fascia and reduced muscle spasm. Providing a pain relief, reduced oedema, reduced muscle spasm and increased function. At times prior to the release you may feel heat, vibration, or pulsing then barrier releases the you then feel the motion and softening of the tissue. The hand then moves to the next restricted region. Myo fascial release is non-intent, tissue holding, re-hydrating technique. |
