Equine Sports Massage
How and why will my horse benefit from equine Sports Massage? Diane Daynes , certified Master Equine Body Worker will answer those burning issues!
The Benefits of Equine Sports Massage;
- Assists in prevention of injury and promotes:
- loosening muscle fibres
- supplying the horse throughout can and indeed will have the productive result of improving limb movement, length of stride, flexibility, gait quality and performance
- Increased suppleness and body mobility
- Conditioning maintenance of the whole body
- Reduced wear and tear = longer performance life
- Induction of relaxation and relief of tension
- Enhanced muscle tone
- Removal of waste products
The manipulation of the body's soft tissues encourages the muscle to relax, stretches and loosens the tissue fibres and promotes flexibility, which results in an increased range of motion. Body work benefits the nervous, muscular and circulatory systems, aids the self-healing system of the body and works as a preventative measure for the equine athlete.
Massage in my opinion is a productive, non-invasive therapy which helps horses to be as comfortable in their bodies as possible by helping to improve muscle function, suppleness, general health and well being.
Massage is not an alternative for veterinary treatment and veterinary permission is required but it can be a valuable tool as part of the horses care.
